We decided on a few things
1. International bonus pool money will be available to be traded.
2. We'll be using a system for the initial draft that keeps the draft moving at a reasonable speed. Keeping track of 30 prospects a day is quite difficult, but we also don't want to wait weeks between picks. If a person misses their pick, they will have a chance to make it up at any time. However, their next pick will be skipped (not removed - just the next person can draft) unless they make up their previous pick or let me know they will be around to make the following pick.
3. A move on/off the DL will not require posting to the forum.
4. Trades will be processed immediately by the commissioner if the trade is deemed not worthy of further inspection. If it requires further inspection, the trade will be put to a league-wide vote, wherein 4 passes cause the deal to pass. 4 vetoes would stop the deal. Any additional veto would require one additional pass (Ex. 2 vetoes require 6 passes to process the trade). If the commissioner is involved in the trade, the duty of trade processor would fall to the co-commissioner.
Great first meeting everyone. I'll be sending out an email as the auction/draft approaches. Stay tuned.
I will update the constitution asap.

A couple things that I took away from that meeting, but the chat box was going too quickly...
1. I think before the auction starts next week, we need to have the rules for the auction clearly explained. I'm very skeptical of how it's going to work. I think I read somewhere (correct me if I'm wrong) that you can only have 1 outstanding bid out at a time. I'm not a fan of this at all. Also, I share some other concerns from the auction thread about GMs just throwing money around like crazy and then bailing after they have gotten 2-3 players to high priced contracts and then don't have enough money to fill out their roster. I'm all for auctions when you can do live drafts and or for smaller leagues, but a big auction in this size of a league may not be the best course of action.
2. I'm not clear on exactly what was decided in terms of the prospect draft and time slots. I run an NFL league that's 32 teams, and we do a yearly draft of rookies that works like this... All picks get 12 hours to make a pick. Let's say the draft starts at Noon on whatever day. Pick one can make their pick any time between noon and midnight. Once they make their pick, a 12 hour window starts for pick 2. So if pick 1 picks at 12:45PM, pick 2 has until 12:45 AM, and so on. We do a 5 round draft (plus compensation picks), and we are usually done in a month and a half. What makes that draft drag on is that we can trade picks, and if a pick that is on the clock is traded, the draft clock halts while the trade is voted on. In other leagues where we use a similar style but don't allow trading, the drafts move pretty quickly.
I think giving each GM a small time slot every day is going to be a nightmare. People have other things going on that may prevent them from making a pick in their 30 or 60 minute window. I don't know if my idea is the best one, but I don't think that time slots are the best idea either.

1. I will explain further on the auction. Owners can have more than one outstanding bid of course. This is not the case only when the owner would be in line to win more than 25 players. The first few days of the auction will be players nominated by me as examples. Mike Trout won't be sent into the fray on day one. I received a suggestion of this, and will nominate guys like Aaron Hill and Brad Ziegler early on so people can get a feel for prices.
2. We're not using daily time slots for the draft. Each owner will have 24 hours to make their pick. The consequences of missing a pick are listed above under decision #2.

Agree with time slots being a B option. Better to have a running clock, and teams can pick once the owner in front of them has made his selection.
As to auction bidding... no matter how you slice it, it's a poor way to go. The only advantage is that every team gets a crack at the elite players. The negatives are too many to enumerate. Chief among them is the disaster of over-bidding owners wrecking the franchise and bailing. But even if they don't ruin their franchise, many owners that don't get the players they want at ridiculous bids, will then double their efforts in alternative players... the entire process boiling down to some owners left to bid on scrapheap players for out of line prices.
The random draft order is not good either but holds the advantage of savvy owners turning poor pick slots into smart drafting. Add in the ability to trade draft picks, and you have a formula for activity, competition and shrewd team building.

I have to side on freedom of bidding here. I trust the owners in the league not to go overboard on certain players.
If it were a random draft order, owners' fates would be practically laid out for them without their desire. If someone is forced to draft in the #30 slot, they have a slim chance at competing anytime soon.

We see your point. Good that all owners have a crack at the top talent.
But they still have to have some savvy and some luck. There's no guarantee the elites (pricey players) will perform up to their contracts. Plus, there's nothing wrong with competing later rather than sooner, as long as you have a solid plan for doing so.
Secondarily, (and maybe this only applies to dumb owners like El Guapo) we have no idea at all how to navigate the intricacies of the bid formula. Our only chance is to lay low until we see how the bidding progress works and hope we "catch on" to the system. Hence, we will likely end at about the same level as having a late draft slot.

I understand that the top guys are guaranteed and that the guys with a lower slot could still compete. However, I don't want to force upon a team their designation. A team shouldn't have to rebuild because they got the #30th draft slot.
The bidding process is pretty intuitive once you get going. Just input the last bid's details in the input table and paste the output table into the thread as your bid. I could set up an example player for owners to "bid" on.
