As we enter the "deep dive" of the draft, it's up to each and every owner to do their own research. With that said, I'd like to speed up the draft given that most people aren't going to pick conflicting players. In order to do this, I'm implementing a new draft method.
There will be a 48 hour picking window. In this time, any owners due for pick(s) in the upcoming round (for example, round 20) will submit their pick(s) to me. I will try to solve conflicting picks before the round is posted by contacting the second owner asking to re-pick. Once the window is over or all picks are submitted (doubtful), I will post the round with every pick.
Tip: Submitting your top 2 or 3 players is a good way to ensure there won't be many conflicting picks. Reminder: Owners can make-up picks at any time
I just don't think decreasing the window time will be efficient for the league. It will accelerate the draft of course, but I feel many many picks will go to waste.
This will go into effect at the start of round 7

So the goal is a round every two days? I think I understand.

Every three days probably. The day I post, I'll just let the dust settle.

So we'll all be sending a list of our deep sleepers to the best team in the league? I have no reason not to trust ya commish, but there's gotta be a better way. I'm planning on winning this league with rounds 10-45 and I'm real protective of my sleepers.

You only have to send 1 guy at a time. Plus rounds are published one at a time, so you'd know if I took the guy you sent in.

Some of my leagues have separate accounts (named after real reporters in that sport) that Commish controls but only logs into once the draft picks are due (ex. 1/14 Midnight for the first one) and then goes through the draft picks. Other leagues have a separate person control that account but it'd still be sending a list of sleepers to some other owner. I definitely see why Pirates is a bit worried though

At the end of the day you always have to trust the commissioner of any fantasy league to have a certain amount of integrity, and I think Justin has more than earned our trust to not use the picks to any advantage.
He's also proven through his team building in the auction that he doesn't need any help from us to build a kick ass team.

Haha. Thank you Rockies.
Also, there really are no worries about me stealing your sleepers because I know all the sleepers. I didn't rank 436 infielder prospects, 312 outfield prospects, and 1050 pitching prospects for nothing lol.

For what it's worth, I sent in my round 7 options for my pick like 6 hours ago. I trust Justin. And I guarantee you he's not joking about those numbers. The size of my list isn't too far behind as well

Will you be PMing us to let us know to send you a pick or how will that work?

As long as you haven't traded the pick away, just PM me with your selection(s).
You can check the draft order and results at the link at the top of the page

Justin, I think you are just setting yourself up for all kinds of problems doing it this way. Why don't we just do it one pick each per day. Set up a timed schedule so that you have the same time each round. I know it seems like a tight window but if you can't pick at that time just make up your pick anytime afterwards. If you miss a couple days just make up your picks a couple of few at a time etc. I play in a few leagues where this works without any issues. I konw Phil (St.Louis) is in some of those leagues with me. He can probably vouch that it works fine. Rounds would be set up as follows.
Round 7 (all times EST) Milwaukee Brewers - 8 am
Washington Nationals - 8:30 am Cleveland Indians - 9 am Los Angeles Angels - 9:30 am New York Mets - 10 am San Francisco Giants - 10:30 am New York Yankees - 11 am Detroit Tigers - 11:30 am Kansas City Royals - 12 pm Minnesota Twins - 12:30 pm Chicago Cubs - 1 pm Tampa Bay Rays - 1:30 pm Colorado Rockies - 2 pm Miami Marlins - 2:30 pm Oakland Athletics - 3 pm Baltimore Orioles - 3:30 pm Chicago White Sox - 4 pm Atlanta Braves - 4:30 pm San Diego Padres - 5 pm Seattle Mariners - 5:30 pm Houston Astros - 6 pm Texas Rangers - 6:30 pm Arizona Diamondbacks - 7 pm Cincinnati Reds - 7:30 pm Toronto Blue Jays - 8 pm St. Louis Cardinals - 8:30 pm Pittsburgh Pirates - 9 pm Los Angeles Dodgers - 9:30 pm Boston Red Sox - 10 pm Philadelphia Phillies - 10:30 pm

I just feel like the priorities for the draft should be the safety of missing as few picks as possible and making sure order is stable while keeping it reasonably paced, not speeding through a round a day or so where I can almost guarantee nobody will pick in the correct order. The scheduling thing just makes it near impossible for me to verify.
If anyone can expand on the problems with this system, I'd be open to hearing them. I'm not quite sure how trading is affected though.
