Thought this would be a good break from the auction monotony.
Let's pretend I'm the owner of the Reds. I want to trade Aroldis Chapman because (a) I want to rebuild and (b) he's on the last year of his contract. I want you guys to take on the role of an owner from another team who wants to try and acquire Chapman. Send me 1 offer with the package you'd be willing to exchange for the closer.
Tips/Rules 1. Try to take on a realistic team here. No, the Phillies will not be trading for all-star closers. 2. Only one person per team. 3. I'm mainly looking for prospects/young players. Preferably powerful position players, even more preferably in the infield. 4. I can package Chapman with one or two of the following: Brandon Phillips, Todd Frazier, Jay Bruce, Zack Cozart. Make it clear in the offer who everyone would be getting.
I'll respond at the end with my thoughts on every offer and pick a winning team.
Edit: No multi-team trades.

Im a huge Reds fan and I really see the Red Sox going all in for the Cuban Missile. Here is what I think would get a deal done.
Aroldis Chapman and Brandon Phillips
for
Manuel Margot, Henry Owens and Michael Chavis
I think this deal would fill holes for both teams.

While I don't think this would happen, I've learned never to underestimate just how crazy Prellerpalooza can get. I'll play along...
Padres get: Chapman Frazier Cozart
Reds get: Colin Rea Rymer Liriano Yangervis Solarte Rudy Giron Michael Gettys Robbie Erlin
This trade fills the needs for everyone. Well Chapman, isn't really a need for SD, which is the main reason why I don't think this will happen, but maybe Preller decides he wants to have a Royals style bullpen and have a 1-2 punch of Chapman and Kimbrel. I don't think ownership would ever allow this much payroll coming back, but I would have said the same thing before the Kimbrel/Melvin Upton deal. SD gets the SS they so desperately need in Cozart, and Frazier represents an upgrade at 3B. The Reds get a bunch of prospects, including the Padres top 2 pitching prospects (Rea and Erlin), possibly their best hitting prospect (Liriano, depending on what you think of Renfroe), and some other high upside guys that are a few years off (Giron and Gettys). The icing on the cake is the versatile Solarte, who could fill 3B for the Reds since they are shipping off Frazier.
Again, I don't think this would ever happen, but it was fun to play along.

If we're involving the Red Sox, I say a three team deal makes sense with the Cubs and Sox
All salaries aside...
Chapman, Pedroia, and Margot to the Cubs (veteran leadership and a soon to be ready CF for FA Fowler)
Schwarber and Castro to the Red Sox (to play DH, because Schwarber can't field, Ortiz is old as shit, and I hate Castro)
J.Guerra, Underwood, Zagunis, Carl's Jr. to Reds.
Cubs win in 2016!!!

I am the Giants. They could be looking for an elite closer to help push for their 4th straight even yeared title.
Giants get: Aroldis Chapman
Reds get: Tyler Beede Kelby Tomlinson
I feel like while this trade is unrealistic because I don't see the Giants parting with either Beede or Tomlinson, I feel like we get a quality closer that fits the blueprint of our 3 previous World Series. As not mentioned in the rules of the game but in order to make it more realistic, if I were the Giants I might ask for maybe another prospect or major league depth option. I also think that this makes all the sense in the world for the Reds because a closer is only of significance to a winning team (and especially a contender) and I feel that Tomlinson is a versatile player who you could play in the middle infield or move him to center and he is a solid all around player (potential 4-5 tooler) and while not being elite, could be an impact player in the future. I also think that Beede has the looks of a front end of the rotation guy with a good mix of speed, stuff, and control, making this a great value for the Reds as well. However, as stated before, I would ask for a little more back if I were the Giants because they are giving away two players at impact positions for a closer and however good he may be, that is the case.

While I'm not Arizona, I'm going to post with an offer for Chapman from the Diamondbacks because they have been linked to him and have the pieces to make a deal work.
Arizona receives: Aroldis Chapman
Cincinnati receives: Braden Shipley Jake Barrett Peter O'Brien Garrett Weber
Looking from both perspectives, the Diamondbacks are looking for that dominant arm in the 9th inning. While Ziegler did a solid job filling in, everyone is more comfortable with him in a setup type role rather than the 9th inning. Chapman immediately fills that role for them and this deal takes nothing away from any real expected onfield production for the upcoming year. For the Reds, who have acquired plenty of solid young pitching in the past year or two, they acquire another potentially solid arm to add to that group. Shipley provides another option that is basically ready for the bigs. Jake Barrett while putting up unspectacular numbers has closer stuff and has shown that he can handle the closer role, saving 72 games over the last 3 years across 3 levels and could be ready to contribute in the bullpen immediately. Peter O'Brien is a wildcard in this trade for me. He has more than shown the power potential in the minor leagues to justify an opportunity with the big club. While the average will never be great and he will strike out a lot power does not grow on trees at this point and O'Brien definitely has that. O'Brien is also blocked in Arizona so he is more expendable than you'd think for someone with so much power potential. Garrett Weber as the final piece is a solid utility type player that has proven he can hit at the highest levels of the minor leagues. I see Weber with the potential to be a poor mans Ben Zobrist that could step in and provide solid play at a number of positions for the Reds in the near future.

Arizona sends: Aaron Hill Chris Owings Archie Bradley Braden Shipley Jake Lamb
Cincinnati sends: Brandon Phillips Aroldis Chapman Todd Frazier
Why Arizona would do this: Arizona wants to compete in 2016. They have some cash to spend on free agent pitching. They also have a ton of young starting pitching in the mix, making Bradley expendable. Arizona was willing to send Archie Bradley to the Dodgers a year ago for Matt Kemp and the dodgers said no. Adding Frazier to Pollack and Goldy would give the Dbacks a 2-3-4 as good as any in the NL. Chapman/Ziegler would give them a formidable end to close games. The package of Phillips/Chapman/Frazier makes Arizona an instant division contender and a wild card lock.
Why Cincinnati would do this: The reds simply won't be competing anytime in the next couple years. Cubs/Pirates/Cardinals are all far ahead of them in talent/farm combination. Bradley and Shipley give the Reds a solid 2/3 to fill their rotation. Lamb can take over 3B for Frazier and Owings could be a solid upside play as he is still young.

This deal is tempting. I get to offload Phillips and save some prospects. Owens would immediately compete for a rotation spot in the Reds suddenly crowded 2016 rotation. Margot [pretending he's still there] would be a solid contender for the future CF job if BHam can't keep up with the bat. Chavis is a nice depth prospect to have at the lower levels for now. I didn't like him that much coming out of the draft but feel he could be a starter at best.
I'm not liking this trade all that much. The prospects aren't great and the Reds can't keep so many AAA/MLB level starters in the form of Rea and Erlin. Solarte would fill in nicely for Cozart/Frazier but so would a veteran free agent. Gettys is a crap shoot at this point given his amazing tools but he needs work. Liriano carries intrigue and I feel like he could be nice in the OF.
This one violates the rules a little bit by being a 3 team trade but I'll give my opinion anyway. I like the prospects I'd be getting back for Chapman but I'm afraif the Cubs would rather drown than give away Schwarber for that package.
The Giants could certainly use Chapman but this prospect package feels light. Beede has good potential but Tomlinson is more of a util play for the Reds given Phillips' role at 2B and BHam in CF. Maybe a little more would boost this to the top though.
I definitely like this package when it comes to most of the players involved. Getting Shipley and Bradley and pairing them with the current rotation mates would be great. Hill isn't appreciated and Owings is basically what Eugenio Suarez is though. Lamb would be a great replacement for Frazier. Overall, solid.
After reviewing all of the offers, the Reds have decided to deal with the Red Sox, acquiring Manuel Margot, Michael Chavis, and Henry Owens for Chapman and Phillips. Great deal.

I actually like the Diamondbacks, after the Greinke deal, to make a strong push now for Chapman. They are going to have a short window and I think they cash in all their chips right now.
The Reds would definitely have interest. If I were the Reds I would do Swanson straight up. I'm not sure Arizona would do that but hey that where I would start.
Something more realistic would be O'Brien, Leyba and someone like Bracho or Sherfy to eventually fill a BP role. An OF and a SS. That's what the Reds are looking for. I'd love to get Lamb somehow but once again not sure if AZ would do that.

Not sure how much value O'Brien has to an NL club. Sort of like Vogelbach. I wouldn't play him at C or OF.
Swanson would be interesting. I think the Reds would like that straight up.
Rumor has it, Cubs are very interested in a "top closer in the game"

2nd off, Swanson couldn't go to Cincy until after the 2016 Draft Signing deadline (since he signed on deadline day last year) (ala the Trea Turner debacle). And I think it'd be crazy for a #1 pick to be involved in a trade as a PTBNL

Start with Baez and go from there.
