There are a couple of steps before the league can really get going. I plan on officially opening the league on November 1st, so I hope to have all 30 owners in place by that point.
Owners
1. Every owner must register for this forum. Customize your profile, make your display name that of your team and first name, add a picture, etc.
2. Explore the roster spreadsheet (Accessible with the button on the top bar). See what your team's page looks like and what else the roster document contains.
3. READ THE CONSTITUTION! This is important. The constitution lists out every rule for this league and is essential to navigating the SD's minutia.
4. I want to hold a league startup meeting. Every owner should try to be present for the meeting so long as they don't have another more pressing matter. In the meeting, I'll take questions and it'll be a nice way to meet all of your fellow owners.
The Initial Auction - I'm hoping we can start the initial auction on November 5th. The auction will continue until all 30 teams have added 25 players to their rosters.
Every ~morning EST I will nominate 15 different players. I have decided to add a new addition to the nomination process. Each day every owner can suggest up to 2 players they would like to see nominated. PLEASE do not nominate another 2 players until you see the 2 previous suggestions nominated. This will prevent me from dealing with a large queue of names. I will use a first come first serve system, and will nominate players for the auction in the order I receive suggestions from league GMs. If I do not receive 15 nominations a day from league GMs then I will nominate random players available on the ESPN Player Rater. You may start nominating your first 2 players on November 2nd at 9am EST.
When a player is nominated, I will give their name, position, and number option years they will have remaining when they are purchased in our league.
As a reminder from the constitution:
Option Years - GMs are allowed to demote players with less than 6 years of MLfB service time in 3 different seasons, i.e., players each have up to 3 option years. Players with 6 or more years of service time will have a maximum of one option year. If a player is currently in an option year, it will be denoted with a '^'.
IMPORTANT: Please note that the start-up auction is going to require EVERY SINGLE GM to check the league page on a daily basis. Please plan your schedule so you can log in at least once a day to place your bids on players so you do not miss out on anyone. I will be regularly checking how often GMs log in and if I observe any level of inactivity please expect a message from me asking why you have not visited the site/made any bids. I will be very strict in enforcing this because the start-up auction is VERY important in making this league a success and we need every one of our 30 GMs on board.
The Initial Prospect Draft
Date TBD
The draft will be 45 rounds long and snake back and forth based on a randomized order. Every minor leaguer who has not exceeded their rookie status will be eligible. Anyone who misses their pick will be allowed to make that pick at any point after. I'll be asking owners at the league meet-up of their opinion on what to do if a person misses a pick (consequence-wise).
After the draft, teams will have a chance to add 35 minor leaguers from their "home organization's" system that weren't drafted.
Ex. Since I'm the A's GM, I'd be able to add 35 Athletics minor leaguers that went un-drafted in the initial draft.
